Dimond Alli Wirehaired Vizslas
Rod,
Peeka2 has now hunted for her third sun in New York; put & take birds with migratory wood cock. She has shown great improvement in only three weeks. Week 1 - Out of 8 birds, broke point before release twice. Would not retrieve the first dead bird, but retrieved all the rest to me with a big drop at my foot and a sit, which is what I trained her to do. (Wish my hunting partners were better shots) Week 2 - Still some creeping, but no busted birds with out my release. When she has a visual of the bird she creeps more than if she is just responding to the bird by scent alone.
Week 3 - She really responded to this weeks yard training the most. SHE'S GOT IT!!!! Steady to wing and shot until I release her, unless I released her cause I'm not going into some of those gnarly briars; that is why I have dog. She retrieves to foot (I call it that), which I'm OK with. She still has some brain malfunctions but less mistakes would be made with a little better help from my hunting partners. I don't know if I'm training her or them? For my type of hunting, I would rate her at 80% ready. The last 20% is just finishing and maintaining what skills she has already. Thanks to you and your breeding she has a lot of the talent in her already. My job is only to bring it out.
Chris
